The Group 2 Standard Power Wheelchair is designed to support everyday powered mobility and help eligible users navigate their home and daily environments with greater independence.
Group 2 standard power wheelchairs are classified according to their configuration and weight capacity. CMS lists several Group 2 standard configurations, including portable models, sling/solid seat and back models, and captain’s chair models. Standard Group 2 models generally have a patient weight capacity of up to and including 300 pounds, depending on the specific HCPCS configuration.
The appropriate wheelchair configuration should be selected based on the user’s mobility needs, weight, seating requirements, home environment, and clinical assessment.
